Scope of Work

• Completed a full gut renovation to re-envision the function and finish level of the primary bathroom
• Installed Bianco Bello marble throughout the floor and shower, including a continuous stone shower seat detail
• Integrated a Schluter DITRA-HEAT radiant floor heating system beneath tiled/stone surfaces
• Designed and installed a waterjet-cut marble mosaic “runner” effect in the floor using Charlotte White marble contrasted with black nacre (mother-of-pearl)
• Designed custom inset cabinetry finished in Benjamin Moore Ozark Shadows
• Fabricated custom cabinet grilles for selected accent pieces, backed with French antique glass for depth and reflection
• Featured a 73-inch Fontenay chariot-style cast-iron clawfoot tub with a polished nickel exterior as the room’s primary focal point
• Implemented a Kohler digital shower system with connected controls and preset experiences (including voice-enabled operation)
• Integrated multiple shower water functions (including body sprays) with minimized visible hardware
• Added LED lighting in the shower floor for an additional experiential layer
• Upgraded ventilation strategy with Fantech FG inline centrifugal duct fans to match room volume and reduce audible mechanical noise in the space
• Specified decorative vanity lighting with Alina Grande pendants by Tech Lighting to bring a more residential, architectural feel to the bathroom

Outcomes

• Elevated the bathroom to match the scale and architecture of an 11,000 sqft home
• Created a cohesive, architectural stone composition that reads as built-in rather than applied finish

Project Details

Built in 2006, this Westlake residence had the architecture to support an exceptional primary suite—but the bathroom’s finishes and performance no longer reflected the home itself. The project began as a complete gut, allowing the room to be treated not as a cosmetic update, but as a redesign of what a primary bathroom of this scale should be. Nearly every surface was approached as an architectural finish, anchored by Bianco Bello marble across the floor and into the shower, with radiant heat beneath for comfort that’s felt more than seen. A waterjet-cut marble mosaic runner—Charlotte White marble contrasted with black nacre—adds detail without competing with the larger stone fields, and that same mother-of-pearl relationship is echoed in the cabinetry hardware. Custom inset cabinetry in Ozark Shadows, French antique glass, and fabricated grilles introduce depth and craftsmanship, while the room’s focal point is a 73-inch Fontenay chariot-style cast-iron clawfoot tub finished in polished nickel—large enough to hold its own in a bathroom of this volume. Technology is integrated with intention: a Kohler digital shower system minimizes visible controls while offering preset, voice-enabled functionality, supported by upgraded ventilation and architectural lighting to complete the experience.
